Can anyone help me troubleshoot this "no network/internet access" problem?

I am having a problem extending our internet connection in our office.
I recently installed a 20-m ethernet cable to connect a computer running Windows 7 Professional in an adjacent room to our router but then it showed no internet/network access.
The other
computers in our room have no problem connecting to our network and the internet so I thought that the cable which I had just installed may be damaged.
Just to be sure, I brought the computer to the router and connected it with a 3-m ethernet cable and it had
no problem connecting to the network and the internet as expected.
The confusing part is that another computer (using Windows 7 Home) in the adjacent room is able to connect to our network and the internet using the same 20-m ethernet cable without a problem.
(This should rule out the cable problem, I think.)
Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? I already tried to daignose the connection problem and followed the steps to restart the router and reinstall the modem in the computer running Windows 7 Professional but still it cannot connect to our network/internet
from that location.
I am not an expert here so please let me know what information I need to provide for you to get a better look at this problem.
Thank you.
